Can I Bake This Recipe in My Bread Machine?

People often ask if they can make my recipes entirely in a bread machine.

In other words, they want to mix and bake the bread in a bread machine instead of my preferred method of using the DOUGH cycle and baking in a conventional oven.

My answer: You are welcome to try, but I can't guarantee anything. Even if I tested every recipe this way in my machine, the results would likely differ from yours. Here's why:

  • Bread machines vary in timing, temperature, pan sizes, and configurations.
  • Your home’s temperature and humidity will most likely differ from mine. These factors can make a huge difference.
  • The ingredients available to me are probably not formulated exactly like yours: flour, milk, milk powder, eggs, yeast, etc. Different brands and geographical locations offer varying characteristics that can affect the recipe's outcome.
  • Experience with reading the dough and making adjustments during the process is key.

These factors can make the results somewhat unpredictable. While a specific recipe might work for you, it’s not guaranteed for others. If that's what you want, I encourage you to try it. It's the only way to know for sure.

Here is my favorite white bread loaf. I don't bake it in my machine, but it works for some people. (See the testimonial below.)

Exceptional Condensed Milk Bread

This Exceptional Condensed Milk Bread is mixed and kneaded in a bread machine, shaped by hand, and baked in a conventional oven. Its velvety-soft, close texture will remind you of brioche. It makes the BEST peanut butter and jelly sandwich you will ever eat!

Condensed Milk Bread

Really like this recipe – it has never failed me yet! Such a soft and easy to slice loaf which is great for sandwiches and toast.
I have also made it entirely in my Panasonic SD-2500 on menu 2 with success when I don’t have much time. (I live in England UK and really appreciate how your recipes do the conversions to metric for me.)--MARGARET

Paula
